Sorry

Sorry for the lack of updates folks but heavy snow, heavy workload and heavy illness mean that service will be resume in January.

So take care and have all a good Christmas break.

Digital Death

Am in two minds about this one, I am glad the target has been reached, on the other hand I think the word was a better place without all the shitty Tweets and Facebook post from some of the artists.

Still good campaign, nice use of SMS, bar code generation and user engagement via own personal digital death.

Dance through your city

This required a lot of effort from the user, first you need an iphone, then you need to plan the journey, record it and actually bother to edit it and upload it. This would explain why the gallery is empty, that or the fact that you get a 404 if you click on "Upload". You spend all this money on bands and app and your site let your down...

Twitter Knitter

I love online / offline offering and this one is pretty sweet and actually useful, the live cam is actually essential here and makes for compulsive viewing.

Domestos: Flush Tracker

Come on don't tell me this is not something that you want to know? Great use of Google map, actually making an interesting day something that people can be interested in. Sadly I don't want to give you my email address.

Ralph Lauren 4D

Web Mapping extravaganza hit the town and the catwalk.

The Official Ralph Lauren 4D Experience - London from Ralph Lauren on Vimeo.

TV news from the day you were born

Sometime the simple ideas are the best...this is going to be huge...shame youTube or a big brand did not think of it first.

A few dates are missing if you are over 30 years old, still fantastic collection. Now let's have the user upload clips from the past too...

Puma Maradonna

A Facebook app that actually uses Facebook functionalities, it's refreshing and really really simple. I am sure with a bit of organisation you can get on the top of the leaderboard easily.

What's interesting is that considering that most people have a lot of friends on Facebook the top people have only 23 players and 2 countries. It does show that really Facebook is for close friends only...

GeoSweep

An interesting take on Google Map API. The instruction video is actually is actually well made and I like the personalisation element (will my house win). But I think they will go bust in 6 months.

Find Red

Using QR code, Stickybits, Foursquare and Google maps this campaign pull all the stops in this virtual hide and seek game.

Danny Knows Best

Shit site, old idea but the fact that is the Royal Opera House is interesting as they are trying to reach a different audience.

John Lewis Harmony

I so wanted this to be live, shame...still at least you can select the track you want but it should last longer.
No link to the YouTube channel? crazy... I would have integrated all this...

http://www.johnlewisharmony.com/?/96dd324a

Ballonacy V2

Updated and upgraded the campaign is clearly smother this time, you can even push message to people visiting your site, an app is coming soon and the now trendy "badges" mechanic is in place. The attention to details is impressive.

http://www.playballoonacy.com/

Foster Funny

Forget the upload your face video generation, the joke competition or even the Twitter feed, it's all about Alan Partridge. Will this sell more beer? probably not...weirdly enough only 300 views on YouTube when I checked it out, I do hope they have some offlines activities to push this.

Live and Lost

The idea of getting back from a location using only one device is not new but the mix with singers is a nice twist, but we had the "living room" roadshow before.

I am sure there is a team behind just in case, but still it's fun and the fans love it. Good incentive to "Like" the Facebook page.

I still have a trouble with Facebook app campaign and the refresh every time you change section.

The Italian Experience

The point is that this is not selling the product but the country. There is only a few normal people in there, most of them are actually good looking, I wonder why? Could this be that most of the videos uploaded have been made by a crew going around and founding good looking people?

The stories are over produce to be honest but I supposed they are trying to sell a dream.

Encourage Omar

I praised any campaign that help awareness of disabilities.

But this is not emotive interaction, this is just a slider action.

http://www.encourageomar.co.uk/

One Frame of Fame

Probably inspired by the crowd sourcing Johnny Cash video. It probably would have been good for a plain background too as the end result might be an epileptic festival. Nevertheless it's a great way to get people sharing and talking about you.

So we have gone from 15 minutes of fame to one frame...crazy world...

Nesquick Factory

Considering that Xbox Kinect is nearly out, this now feel a bit out dated, still I am sure the kids will like it.

Bic Fight

"Conexion a Facebook required" un peu comme http://www.ilsdebarquent.com/

It's cool but not engaging once you seen it.

Demo Slam

A competition for geeks, you have to give Google their due for trying to bit Apple. Forget "there's an app for that" this look more real. So get pass the obviously directed entries to get the people going and see what happen in the next few weeks...

26 Oct 2010

Mini Getaway

Shit site, brilliant idea...how many people are going to try this? would love to see the stats at the end of the campaign.

http://minigetawaystockholm.com/

Danger makes Legend

Impressive tech and am sure people that actually live in the cities will love to be involved, owning their neighbourhood and their stadium.

For the rest of the audience am not so sure, as this is turn base game you are hoping the audience will be involved in this giant game of rock, paper and scissor long enough to make it interesting.

http://www.adidas.com/football/uk/pages/dangermakeslegend

Powerade Zero

You get a 4:30 documentary, a poor version of Nike + and some tests. I was expecting something a bit more sexy to be honest.

25 Oct 2010

Bing Decode Jay-Z

Is it because Bing and Bling rhyme? Simple ARG / Offline even if I wonder how many people are still doing these things? At least it's a good use of the technology they are promoting. Nice hot/cold pointer to help the user too.

http://bing.decodejay-z.com/

Berocca Boost Sender

Nice little partnership with Spotify. Problem is I just added "Fuck the people" as a track, considering that the top music track as only 8 votes, this could lead to some interesting playlist. I do hope they have moderation.

Have a Camper Day

If you like Electroplankton, you will love this site. Great idea to use real objects for the interaction. Sadly once you are done you will never come back. At least you can select other weavers to experience the different scenarios.

Heinz secret ingredient

Beautifully executed and perfect for the audience even if a bit over the top, I wonder if people are really going to try Ketchup in this way. Nice loader and welcome back message, this show a good attention to detail from the team.

If you like this go and play http://www.cookingmamacookoff.com/home.php

24h Skittles

It's live for 24h and if you can bare the dodgy voice-over, wish is actually needed to make this a bit more interesting, this is a simple brand awareness campaign.
Will I remember to check the event tomorrow? probably not but the PR machine would have delivered and the job done.

http://www.facebook.com/skittles.uk

Fable 3

A game for gamers, the audience is small, Xbox 360 gamers that have a smart phone and that will purchase Fable III (you should by the way).

It's simple game but it works a treat, found treasures, reclaim places, plant flags (hello FourSquare) and get points for you Xbox account. Easy to pick up and available for Window 7, Iphone and Android.

http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/fabel-iii-kingmaker/id396021157?mt=8

Beck's Label App

I hate, hate this trend that you have to "like" something on Facebook to actually interact with the brand. This is not good practise, ask them at the end of the experience so the user feel is in charge, don't force it.

The label editor is really basic and I am not even the winner will make it onto a bottle, now that would have been cool.

http://www.facebook.com/becksvier?v=app_141525105873341

Future Express

Pizza Express is changing, follow their progress to see how much money they have spend on crap, especially the conversationalist video. Would have been nice to have a live feed to see it coming to life and to see if all their ideas work because at the moment it's only a blog and I don't think any of their customers care. I wonder if they are going to ban crying babies during the Jazz night?

You Are the Big Picture

Ok once you finished puking watching the intro video, this is a big campaign that steal the foundation from the Flake thank you message campaign. Nevertheless, a lot of offline activities, projection and so on will take place and from a user point of view, one picture = £1 so it's an easy win. Nice little video with your picture in it too as a reward for participating.

http://www.youarethebigpicture.com

Despicable Me

Universal must have pay a fortune for this because the rule of thumb is that you should not fake a page for more than 30s, still is fun one and well executed YouTube take over.

http://www.youtube.com/universalpicturesuk

Walkers Rainy Day

It hasn't got all the bells and whistles of an experience sit but look under the bonnet and this is a good tech piece. Code entry, square selector, weather stats, mobile play, registration. Impressive really...

Guy at Home

It's been a while since we had a live campaign, but nothing will beat We Live in Public.

Simple proposition, 1 Like = £1; Target = $25,000, isn't that a bit low? surely you forgot a zero there!
It's more about awareness in the end, sonce the media attention is gone where the people still tune in?

http://guyathome.com/

Earthkeepers Timberland

This site borrow from left right and centre and managed to deliver a cool experience. Even if short lived, still get your glasses on.

http://earthkeepers.timberland.com/

The Greatest Cup Never Run

You could see this as 2 things:
A trick to have people clicking on the Like button or a cool way of using Facebook feature.

With a TV event on the day of the race, this should generate some nice words of mouth.

Share the Happy

Give compliments, share compliments to random stranger...considering that you can not choose a compliment, or move around the page, it's a bit lame.

I still don't understand why agency keep putting voting mechanic in this kind of campaign, no one is really browsing and voting, or sharing compliment for that matter. The Facebook like button is probably the safer option to try to get the campaign a bit of memento.

Good idea to have the voucher, that will generate traffic.

http://www.sharethehappy.com.au

Xfactor Karaoke

A perfect partnership, a simple interface and a disappointing experience as you need to sign-up to actually get do a full track. Nevertheless it's clever marketing.

Orange Singing Tweetagrams

Simple and fun idea for no other reason then showing that Orange is a cool brand.
They are not even trying to plug a phone but it's only for 4 days, that's probably a lot of money for not a lot of return, it's day 2 and only 171 tweets have been submitted.

Every Click Matters

Let's face it you are only on the site because of the B celebrities cameos but when you think about it the target audience is pretty broad so a bit of fun, a big movie voice and some scary facts throw in for good measure make it a safe campaign.

The format is perfect for YouTube so why haven't they got a presence? Actually they have, but not the one they want.

http://www.everyclickmatters.com/

Maison Close

It's the 7th Guest in a brothel. It's a shame that they trying too hard to push people to use Facebook connect to share the experience. Well executed with the cast of the series but a bit short and left wanted more...

http://maisonclose.canalplus.fr/

French Connection Youtique

At first I was really exited about this and than I started exploring the Youtique. It's only a bunch of videos linked together and once you have watched them, well you are done.

Other issues are the fact that the links maybe hidden until the end, but they are visible on rollover and if you click once the clip is finish you are redirected to the classic YouTube page, outside of the experience.

I would have forgotten all this if by clicking "buy" my basket on the French Connection site was actually filled up with the item I have selected, but no it's only a big portal. Let's face it the best part are all "the Man" and "The Woman" videos.

At least it's a sort of a first on YouTube (remember this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXcBjeoRqFY). It seems that most and most brand are trying stuff on YouTube, it's the new Facebook, yes it's great to go where the audience is but be careful of not reinventing the wheel just for the sake of it.

Samsung Project Space Planes

Brilliant use of tech and great idea that will appeal first to the geek audience but can easily expand to a wider one. This should generate word of mouth easily. The product has a genuine reason to be included in the project, something that is rare these days.

But why using Tumblr? if this is to keep it real, it's a bad choice...and please make sure someone is answering Twitter and not just posting blog post updates.

Now why did the founder of Rathergood agreed to be involved is beyond me...

I believe the hype, I believe this is live because the idea is simply clever. Offline and online working hands in hands. The only think I want to do now, is take a plane and do a moony in front of the camera.

Xtreme Xrunch Kart

A free game to promote Baby Carrot on the iPhone? have they got the demography wrong or is someone is having a laugh?

The game in itself is pretty classic but I do like the fact that they try to integrate the UIP of the product in the gaming experience. Good for PR but probably not for sale...

Kit Kat Music Break

Client: I have a brand that's flagging what can I do?
Agency: We can do a funny viral with a gorilla?
Client: Virals are dead
Agency: Doing some sport related stuff?
Client: Everyone is doing this
Agency: Music, everyone like music
Client: Yes let's do it, any bands kids like?
Agency: My daughter likes "Scouting for Girls", they are pretty harmless
Client: Fine book them...my mum likes them to but I need something like edgy you know...
Agency: What about that AR stuff we saw 2 years ago, should be mainstream now
Client: Great, my boss will be impressed...

Wonderbra Full Effect

A bit of AR and a bit of image manipulation et voilà, you are 2 sizes more. Being a man I can not guaranty this will help me purchase a Wonderbra, maybe the girl get it? but what happen to the old tissues in the bra? The Full Effect Facebook is only here to tick a box..

Levi's Curve ID

Nice to see Levi's helping their customers choosing the right jeans for them, of course the model and real women are still really skinny.  It's all glamorous and beautifully shot as you would expect. Interaction is left to the minimum it's all about the videos baby.
