VW: Drive Academy
by
Unknown
Usual problem here, it's a poor 3D game, big pixel, lack of scenery and so on. At least you can share it and encourage people to beat your score via Facebook. The added bonus is you can try and drive as if you were drunk but it gets boring after a while.

Nike: Ellie runs
by
Unknown
Who gives a shit? really, Ellie runs so what? unless she has Kylie gold pants on when she does it, am not interested...plus it's 10 spaces only? that's a small gang bang but not enough to be fun...I think they should give her laxative and call the campaign Ellie has the runs....

Diesel: A hundred lover
by
Unknown
Ok it's only a big portal to the Diesel collection, but what a portal it is! Great tune, great video and simple interactivity can get you a long way.
Love the fact that all the dancers have their own links and that the interactivity still work in full screen. Lot of clever stuff, like the camera moving sightly to make it even more interesting.
What I would I love to see? The ability to embed it on my blog for sure! and an easter egg on one of the frame. I dare you not to try and stop the video to see who is the girl in bikini is.

Balance 365
365 films to entertain you all year round, that's probably why having an iphone app to support it is a good idea as you can expect people to come back to the site every days. Especially since I don't see any RSS feed or Twitter account to follow. Outlook or Google calendar integration could have been good too.

Krave
A good take on bidding mechanic for this campaign. At the moment the action required to earn choc chunks are based on recruitment of new players. It will be interesting to see what the next tasks are, so one to watch. Nice and simple design without a hint of Flash.

Je tue un ami
Controversial for sure and really well executed but nothing new am afraid, shame...plus not using Facebook connect on this one is a crime.

Earth Hour
It's Earth Hour this week-end and as usual everyone need to join in. The site has everything you need to know on how to get involved but the design let it down. I am also surprise that there is no Facebook campaign or that the implementation in place is really basic even if it's primary an off-line campaign.
They even have a kids site but make sure you check http://www.myearthhour.org/lightsoff nice bit of interactivity

Lurpak: Bake Club
Reviving an old joke and making it fun and simple...perfect but could have been so much better if they had integrated Facebook connect!

Adidas: Call yourself a fan?
You could have a statue of yourself in your team home town, how cool is that? even better your statue will be regularly be pissed on, ridiculed and trashed.
I really like the shit tentative of the designer to recreate the statue material by applying some Photoshop effect. I hate the fact that you have to register straigh-away and it's sadly a quizz and upload your photo competition (upload mechanic is poor).

Bjernie Fast Food
Converse has being doing something similar in the past with http://www.thisistheindexpage.com/. Still it's nice to see a brand that do not advertise itself and is just in it for the fun.

The Guinness Grin
It's Saint Patrick's day! A brilliant campaign that is fun, simple, viral and showcase the product perfectly. What more can you ask for? Perhaps a bit more space for the photos to breathe.

I am Nikon
Nikon is trying to retain his customers by showcasing the best photos taking with their cameras. It's a logical steps for the brand, nice integration with Flick and Youtube but the interface is poorly implemented and not user friendly at all.

Man in the Box
A really interesting idea about finding the man in the box. It's a shame the site has been done so badly as a bit more design and functionalities could have helped raise the profile of the stunt (did a 5 years old design the logo?).
They should have look at how Big Brother do their site and copy it because the concept has proved to be good enough to grab a lot of PR and they sadly did not capitalised on it.

Lays: Happiness
A simple campaign that is supported by some good off-line activity with People magazine. Good to have Flickr integration would have been even better to have Picasa and manual upload as this limit the number of upload. Simple categories for a simple design, there is nothing wrong with it except that it's not ground breaking.

Doritos: Viralocity
Another Doritos create your own adds campaign, I like the fact they don't hide the fact that all this is to help the brand becoming viral. They bough a youTube channel, coded nothing and hey presto they have a campaign...

Coca Cola: Longest celebration
Not a new idea, we had the world longest story, pass the ball, laugh, poem, dance and so on. But it's well done, it's integrated to youTube, it's multilingual and it's also paired with some offline activities. I did have a crashed on the submit page.

We Quit: No Smoking Day
So far today they have helped 81 people quit, massive results then! I mean how can they failed? they have Aisleyne from Big Brother. But you have to appreciated their Facebook application, as it should help motivate people due to pier pressure.

Yahoo!: Yodelizer
I really don't get what Yahoo still thinks the Yodel is funny but here it is again. The keyboard interface works a treat, simple things like using the space bar to start again is a clever way of not disturbing the user interaction with the site. Sadly it's stop there as I don't see why anyone would want to download or share the Yodel. They even try to let you use it to embed sites, again good idea not sure it will stick.

Having MS
It's always hard for public campaign to have decent funding, this one was probably on a budget but they are making the most of it and the small games are simple but help understand what sufferers are going through, try the movement I for example. http://havingms.com

Victoria's Secret: 7 Bras
Some videos, a little quiz and nothing more... it's pretty boring and the model are so skinny I though I was watching Schindler's list for a minute.
Come on this would be the ideal place to use AR so you could model a bra via your webcam and send the picture and the order to your boyfriend / lover / partner / husband / admirer...

Scion: tCRS
I like Facebook connect but just grabbing stuff from my account and insert it in your movie doesn't cut it anymore... there is a nice little 360 after but it's only a portal to the City guide and Reinvent the Wheels (a more interesting proposition actually). Now am off to Facebook to remove the Scion app. http://www.scion.com/rstc/

Samsun: Shakedown
by

A small set-up and a live cam and presto you get a cool campaign, add a fish thank and this make it even better...view the demo.

Friji: Soccerettes
I wasn't aware that Friji audience was so mature, I thought it was a kid drink, therefore the innuendo theme seems a bit misplace but then again I did not do a full market research, hopefully they have.
I have tried to get the AR working and after a few freeze I got a badly pixelated video. Using the product to trigger the AR is the way forward but using it for shit contain is the way backward.
As for the competition they at least use Facebook connect to make thing a bit easier but they might miss out a huge part of their audience.

French Connection: Chatroulette
Chatroulette (good video here) will probably stop being trendy by the end of month or evolved with a topic filtering system as the novelty of waving to strangers is now fading. Reactive marketing can be good and French Connection is not missing a trick, is £250 enough? how many dicks will you be expose for that price? http://manifesto.frenchconnection.com/2010/02/challenge-chat-roulette/

Change we see
Good article in Wired this month about Cameron digital team. With the election approaching it's interesting to see more focused campaign sites, one message, one idea, one call to action. It helps growing the database of supporter and it's easy for people to get involved. This one I don't get, you upload photo of what? success stories? surely Labour should know what they have done for the country and how they spend our money? Personally I want to upload photos of the estate near me where things got worse or the park that is now a gathering of hoods and junkies but am afraid they might be rejected. They do have a YouTube account too http://www.youtube.com/user/theuklabourparty, http://www.changewesee.com/

Fairtrade: The Big Swap
The design invited you to add your swap, the call to action is simple and quick and you get rewarded with a free downloadable CD (with the terrible Zingolo single, but Cadbury needs to use it after all the money they spend on it). They should push the events a bit more as you might not explore this section. A Flick group is a good idea but as usual it's only filled with agency / organiser pictures, 14! http://www.fairtrade.org.uk/thebigswap/
